AYAKO SHIRASAKI / JAZZ PIANIST
  PROFILE:
Ayako Shirasaki has been playing the piano since the age of five. Recognized as a child prodigy in her native Japan, she won numerous awards and began appearing in jazz clubs at the tender age of twelve. In 1995, she won second prize in the prestigious First Annual Heineken Jazz Competition. Ayako moved to New York City in 1997 and earned a masters degree from Manhattan School of Music, where Ayako studied piano with Kenny Barron. Her debut recording featuring Lewis Nash (drums) and Marco Panascia (bass) was released in August 2003. Ayako frequently performs in the NY area with her trio or in a duet setting with Tim Collins (vibes).
