X KILLS Y, AND VICE VERSA
Conceived and choreographed by Kiyoko Kashiwagi
Performed by Suzi Takahashi, Vincent McCloskey and Kiyoko Kashiwagi
Presented by The Chocolate Factory

X KILLS Y, AND VICE VERSA is what the choreographer and the dancer Kiyoko Kashiwagi calls it an anime dance. It is a satirical dance comedy about a mad scientist Dr. X with an ambition to conquer the world with his female robot weapon. There will be a hero and, of cource, a beautiful girl in the story which is a cartoon like version of "Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde" and " Romeo and Juliet."

Inspired by Japanese animations, Kashiwagi created this new dance format by fusing classical ballet, modern dance and Japanese animation. In live theater settings ther dancers will perform a live animation that is frightening but very comical and fantastical.

JAPANESE and WAR
- There was a war in my country 60 years ago. (…so I hear) -

A series of staged readings
Presented by Theater Arts Japan,
in association with Signife and Woken’Glacier theatre company

Theatre Arts Japan will premiere four staged readings by four leading Japanese playwrights of today.

Sixty years after the close of the 2nd World War, Japan's memory of it grows dim, yet the shadow of World War II still hangs over the country, leaving a fear unfounded against other races. Japanese and War brings us back to a place in history whose effect persists though they try to forget.

Theatre Arts Japan was founded to introduce modern Japanese theatre, culture and points of view to American audiences by translating and producing Japanese plays in the United States.
